hi,
mazda diesel particulate filter alarm light flashing.any ideas on cause & how to rectify very much appreciated.

There was an item about this on Watchdog recently.

It seems likely you need to give it a good run over 40 mph, but see what your driver's handbook says on the subject.

You need to give a long run on a motorway or dual .. and keep revs above 2500 (try 4th gear and stay in it) for at least 15-20 mins. That should clean it.
Flashing is supposed to mean a trip to dealer.
Brace yourself.
