Background noise/music!

I listen ,early morning, to World Service followed by Radio 4. World Service is good at finding foreign, unintelligible speakers and then drowning them out with loud music and drumming. For those of us with a hearing difficulty it is very frustrating.Why do they do it?

I can't say I've noticed that, bricro, and we listen to World Service a lot.

Just wondering, might your audio reception be better if you had a tiny set of speakers attached to the radio?
