Just been watching Loose Women, who are all wearing glitzed up Poppies. I'm appalled. The Poppy is a very SOMBRE acknowledgement of the absolutely inhumane conditions that our soldiers suffered in two world wars, and to now make the "token poppy" a glitzy accessory is beyond me. I called ITV and they said they had been bought through the Poppy Association. Haven't been able to get hold of them yet but I think this is so disrespectful to those who gave their lives in such a terrible way. Am I out of touch or has everybody forgotten what those men went through?

I have just received my Buckley brooch Poppy from the Poppy shop and it is beautiful and will be very proud to wear it.
Love the original poppies though, but kept losing them, that's why this year I have opted for a brooch as it will stay proudly pinned to the lapel of my coat or jacket :-)
You obviously haven't done your homework!!!! You can buy the brooch at www.poppyshop.org.uk. This web site is run by the British Legion. Yes of course there are other well know web sites that you can get a similar brooch from, but they might not give a percentage of the cost to the fantastic British Legion. I am of the younger generation, so please do not tar us all with the same brush. I am very proud of the men and woman you have and continue to give their lives to make this world a more peaceful place, and lets hope that time will come.
Good lord, what is wrong with people today. I think the sparkling poppies are actually very beautifull and more importantly means more money is being donated. Yes it is important that we never forget the sacrifices and tragic loses of our brave soldiers in hope that we will not repeat history, but a sombre acknoledgement ? I cant agrre. For me it is simply remembering and celebrating the lives of many ordinary, yet extraordinary people to whom we owe much. I am very proud of my Grandad and geat uncles, all served with the royal marines and my brother who has been serving 26 years xx
