AVG 2012 database needs updating but it won't let me!

Each time I try to update it either says it failed or doesn't do anything.
Any ideas or is it an uninstall and reinstall ?

Yep reinstall easiest way to sort it out. You may wish to try Avast it's free and in my opinion better than AVG which I found slowed my computer down.

Have gone with Avast - thanks.

More curious though when I tried to uninstall AVG from the progs and features list it said it cant find it or it may have been uninstalled already but its still running!
How do I get rid?!

Sorted it. Downloaded a removal tool and its gone. Dunno what happened there - wierd!
