Puppy cries at night.
I have just got a 10 week black lab puppy and I am not sure whether I should keep coming down to her at night when she cries. The first night she cried a little, the second night not at all and then last night she cried loads so in the end I came downstairs to see her several times. She sleeps downstairs in a basket with her toys. She starts off with a little cry then it turns into a howl, I left her for 20 mins but then I couldn't take it anymore.
I have a RSPCA complete dog care book but it doesn't have any info on sleep. Can anyone please advise me on what I should do? Thanks.

Very very excited and trying desperately to read up on everything but a nervous already about the first few nights and what to do. Get a crate and put newspaper in it and close the door? Leave door open and put some paper on the floor? No paper at all??? Everywhere I look its a bit different. Would love some help before 4th October! xxx
Hi, I am in a few weeks also due to become a first time lab puppy owner and I keeping reading lots of differing advise about the first few nights. I plan to get a crate but do I leave door open with some newspaper down in the kitchen or close the door and have newspaper in the Crate, or no newspaper at all? Would love some help before October 4th!!
I've just got a 7week old staff I already have two age 3 and 2 he is great in the crate unless the door is shut. He doesn't just cry he screams. Tonight I have propped his cage open in the same room as others and hope he isn't so lonely poor thing. It's just foxy (2) has gotten in the cage to lie down. They both love the new baby and are really gentle with him. Any advise greatly received.
