We took him to the vets on Friday afternoon and saw the x rays. There is indeed a large growth that is pushing his windpipe upwards.
My daughter came up from Surrey and we all had the weekend with him and he seemed fine. However, since yesterday he has not been good and is not eating.
I think the decision has to be made but it's so hard.

I must admit that I was nervous about asking chrissa, I lack tact and didn't know if I would upset you.
It really is difficult to make the decision to allow your furry friends to die in peace. We want to hang on to them for as long as possible. If only we were able to do the same things to ourselves and our loved ones when life is unbearable.
masma - I hope things are going well for you at home.

You are all So kind. I Skyped my daughter this morning so that she could see how he was. Sadly she agreed with me and is preparing for the worst.
My son came round earlier this evening and even he could see, (very reluctantly) that Charlie wasn't himself.
I'll see how he is tomorrow and I Must make a decision as it's not fair on the old man.
