Good evening all. I have a message on my Virgin Nokia phone that I cannot open. therefore I can't delete it and it is always there advertising I have a message, so I never know if there are any others without going to a lot of hassle. It is ">pers". I rang the company and the call centre girl didn't know why I couldn't read it, but said they had sent it. I suggested this was a bit useless if I can't open it, but she said some can, some can't. I asked what it might be about. She said a welcome. I thought not, as I have had the phone three years! She said I wouldn't be able to delete it, but that it would probably go after 72 hours. (Friday night, hopefully) Any one else had this? I am bemused.

i normally et them when i go on holiday as soon as i step off plane i get about 3 of em but i can delete them it just looks like a load of gobble di ***
Question Author
Not sure how I can delete it without opening it as that is what usually gives the delete option. Thanks for prompt reply. Glad to know not everyone has gone to bed yet!
Yes I had one of those which I couldn't delete so know how annoying it is. Like they've told you it will go after 72 hours mine did or I managed to delete it after then can't remember but I did get rid eventually so it's a case of hanging in there and (hopefully) you will get the same result.

Thanks Daisya. Patience is a virtue, so i must cultivate it, I suppose!! Good to hear I am -not quite- alone. I felt victimised!!
looking through the Virgin Nnokia site, the following seems to be the issue

http://virgin.tmtx.co...hat_is_a_pers_message

http://virgin.tmtx.co...hat_is_a_pers_message

http://virgin.tmtx.co...hat_is_a_pers_message

Checking them out.... it seems that this message is sent to set up your voicemail, and all you do to delete the message is switch off & on your phone.

Hope this helps!
Oh maybe that's what happened for me then Nibble, can't quite recall as it was last year sometime even though I'd had the phone for several years so couldn't understand why the message came!
Question Author
Thank you very much for that Nibble. I thought I had voice mail already, but I could never find it! Maybe that is the answer.
Seems to be when they've upgraded to 3G, and new service providers, your phone have to register on new & diffeerent network, which then resend "their" voicemail settings to your phone. Annoying for you, but it's actually your phone doing what it's supposed to, i.e keeping you in contact.
