Destination suggestions for an anniversary break in March?
10 Answers
Can anyone suggest a romantic holiday for our 5 year anniversary in March? Somewhere special that has a nice beach but is also close enough to a town if we want to do a spot of shopping would be great. We're on a budget so although we'd like to go to Bali or Mauritius, Europe is probably more up our street (is a beach hol in Europe in March even possible?!).
Thanks!
Thanks!

Great city with loads to do, shopping, history, but also has a beach.
Old castle on a huge hill on the edge of the city, that gives you great views over the city, see here

Here is the weather for Barcelona for the year.

Says the average for March is 16C (about 60F) but it can go up to 24C (74F).

Which is on the Greek island of Zante...just dont go Laganas!...unless you wanna go clubbing!

March is a bit early for guaranteed beach weather in Europe. Although it can be very nice in Spain & Portugal it can also be cool. The Canaries are the only place with beach weather.
Outside of Europe, Luxor in Egypt is cheap & hot in March. I've been there twice at that time of year & had 85-90 degree weather. Nile cruises are also a very keen price.
Morocco should be warm also in March - what about Marrakech?
You quoted 2 expensive places - Bali & Mauritius - but there are other long distance places that are cheaper then these two. You can get 2 weeks all inclusive for approx 850 in March in Cuba & I'm sure you could get something similar in Sri Lanka. .

I think hte Canaries are your best bet, holidays there are very resonably priced and it is the warmest part of Europe. You might also consider Madeira but in March the Canaries are warm enough to viist the beach though I sugest you book into a hotel with a heated pool to be on the safe side! Look at the deals on Expedia.
