Fault on HP Photosmart C6180 all-in-one printer
Please please please can someone advise me....... I have had this printer 3 years and its brilliant (it was expensive) It has 6 separate ink cartridges including black, but recently I keep getting an error message saying the Magenta colour has run out (it hasn't) I can bypass this message and print using the other colours minus the magenta, but obviously its no good for photos. I have wasted so many Magenta cartridges but it still won't take the colour. I use compatible ink cartridges (have done for over two years) and I have tried and wasted a genuine Magenta colour and it still doesn't print. Now tonight I can't even bypass the error message, it says the ink cartridge has "expired" (its still within date) and has just stopped printing completely. Can anyone suggest what I can do - I have run a printer head clean to no avail, unplugged it completely and switched on again but it still comes up with this frustrating message.

I don't know this printer but I assume that the individual ink cartridges have electrical contacts??
If so, then try cleaning the contacts with a small brush and methylated spirits including the ones in the printer itself.
Make sure that the meths has all evaporated before switching on.
Hope this helps.
