To use a well-worn cliche, this was a game of two halves.

In the first few minutes of the game, at 9:02 in fact, deecee131 matched BANK HOLIDAY while slaney and fordward matched WEDDING MARCH: 2 points each.

Then it all went quiet. Just six single points were scored throughout the rest of the day on those same two links. I began to despair, my abacus was going rusty with lack of use, was nobody going to tune in to Regal Roslyn's devious wavelength and find the final two links?

Midnight came and went and that was the signal for two knights in shining armour to ride in and achieve what I thought was impossible.
At 00:36, Eiggam found HOME BIRD to claim two points (yes, I had to look it up as well!) and then at 2:04 am, kettledrum chanced LONG ISLAND for her two points.
Eiggam and Kettledrum surely prove that only another woman can truly understand how the female mind works.

For this near-impossible achievement, I therefore declare:

The 'Official Match Reporter', BigMac didn't score this weekend, allowing slaney to creep up on his heels. in fact, any of those listed above could catch or overtake BigMac. To stand a chance of that though, you have to enter next weekend and preferably soon after 9am as, unlike this weekend, the bonus points are all snapped up fairly quickly.
Remember: Saturdays, Q&P, 8:45am - introduction, 9am - game starts.

Then of course you can also play our sister game, the KM Links, based on the Daily Telegraph GK Crosswords. That game is also in Q&P on Saturday mornings and usually starts very early because it is managed by Seekeerz down in Australia. No panic there though because there are no time-sensitive bonus points.
