I just wonder why is is OK for atheists to rubbish and belittle believers but if the believers dare to say atheists are wrong, they are dismissed as dogmatists who feel 'morally superior? I'm not taking either side on this, I just wonder..
And why do people who object so much to religious postings feel the need to respond so vehemently and in such attacking mode? Could they just not ignore the postings?

Isn't atheism a denial of god? Therefore it can only be iconoclastic. Believers on the other hand have some kind of image of their god and if they enter into dispute, it must be to uphold that image. I agree with you 100% about the vituperative nature of some contributions and as an agnostic ain't rooting for either side.
Seadogg, Atheism is a lack of belief in any god.
beckersjay, If people of religion insist on shoving their beliefs at us, they have to expect to be challenged. Likewise, if they insist on shoving their books at us, they have to expect us to highlight the many errors and inconsistencies they contain. Don't forget it is the non-believers who are to be everlastingly condemned because they're misguided and corrupt. Those poor, downtrodden religionists, eh? ;o)
I always find it rather silly when people say 'why not ignore the posts'. This is R&S - we talk solely (or souly if you like) about religion here - so if we ignored the posts, there would be no discussion.
