What would you put in russian tea instead of milk?
Can't see an obvious answer other than water (added to the samovar tea concentrate) or perhaps honey.
Any ideas?

Lemon slice?
Question Author
Yes, possibly better than honey, but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer as honey, lemon are both mentioned a lot
Russians often drink tea with jam - usually a sort of runny cherry jam.
It is called chai svareniya
Or just with sugar - chai ssakharom
I was offered all these varieties in Moscow, but never milk.
PS - you don't put the jam in the tea, you put a spoonful in your mouth and drink the tea through it.

thanks all - no clear answer, so just a poorly crafted question I think
