My dog Yogi has just run up to get me so I can let him in the garden, I thought maybe Mr RR had pulled up on the drive but no, he ran off into the garden and started eating my phlox, at least I think it's phlox. He obviously wants to make himself sick but he usually eats grass, I've never seen him eat this before, I'm a bit concerned he might be poisoning himself, Any ideas anyone? thanks for any replies.
Ive looked through a few sites and it doesn't come up as being a problem.
>>He obviously wants to make himself sick<<
A bit of a myth im afraid, nobody really knows why dogs eat grass, some say for the taste, some the texture or maybe required nutrients but no one really knows.
Dogs are strange and wonderful creatures and do things for no apparent reason. My first GSD or instance had a thing about daffodils. He didn't eat them but would carefully bite them off the stem about 2in below the head and leave them all over the garden, didn't bother any other plants buts he wouldn't leave a daff alone
Thanks ratter that's a relief, he's never eaten it before and he savaged it. He's definitely under the weather so a visit to the nice vet might be in order. Thanks so much for all your replies.
Don't know why he did it but when I went to visit mum he wasn't allowed in the garden, daffodils were her favorite flower, and he wasn't allowed of the lead in the local park as long as the daffs were in bloom
