How do I get still photos off a DVD

My mum has a dvd of photos she took of a holiday she went on with my dad and does not have the loose photos anymore but I would like to get some of the photos and make it into a calendar for her, so can anyone tell me how I can get copies of the photos off the dvd. I have run the DVD in Windows Player but I can't seem to be able to get a copy of the photos I want, I can make a copy of the whole DVD but I only want certain photos.
Can anyone help and tell me what to do?

If you have a DVD drive, play the DVD. Reach picture you want and then pause the DVD. Press Alt-Prt Scrn. Paste into Word or PowerPoint.

Go to the Adobe site download photo elements or simular on a free trial, you should be able to open your photos from the DVD then print them off

The simplest and probably the best solution would be to download and install VLC media player, it doesn't cost anything and it's totally free to use, put your dvd in the drive and the VLC player should open automatically, when you see the picture show in the players screen just click on video, this will then show a drop down menu, just click on "snapshot" and it will save your picture to the "My Pictures" folder on your hard drive, download it directly from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ if you have any problems let me know, good luck!

If they are just pictures on a DVD then put DVD in drive, open it in windows explorer and copy the pictures off..

have you uploaded the dvd onto truprint, or similar sites?

or simply take the dvd to a photo print shop...

In reply to ChuckFickens answer, yes it's true if you just have JPEG images on your dvd you can simply open up windows explorer and copy the images to your hard drive but if it's a dvd that's been made into a movie slideshow it will be in the .VOB file format which is a playable video file in which case you will probably have to take snapshots of the still images as i suggested, it all depends on if it's a still picture dvd or if it's a video dvd.

Nope ... If it is in DVD format ... (plays like a normal DVD)

You use Classic Media Player to play it ... and extract whichever frames you want ..
or VLC will also do it.

I use a brilliant program called CaptureWiz by Pixlemetrics and you can capture anything (on pause) and it will produce it in JPG, PNG, GIF, or BMP. You can capture all or any part of the screen precisely, including the mouse pointer and even create video. The light version cost $20 and the Pro Lifetime version which you can transfer to any subsequent computer is $40 (I bought it when it was $30). I wuldn't be without it.
