As you have found out, this is Curzon St railway station.
It was the original railway station when the line was first built from Euston to Birmingham. However it did not last long as it was too far from central Birmingham and when New St station was opened it fell into disuse.
The area behind it then became a huge railway yard where goods were brought into, and taken out of, Birmingham by train.
The area around Curzon St station has recently been earmarked for massive redevelopment, and is given the generic name Eastside.
However when the HS2 (High Speed 2) line from London was announced it was planned to have the station in this area (right next to that old station) and that scuppered much of the plans for Eastside.
I have been going round the Eastside area for the last two years taking panorama photos of the area to show its redevelopment and I have posted them on a website called Skycraper City.
