DVD Recorder

If I was to buy a DVD recorder (no hard drive) that would record onto DVDs, would I be able to 'shuffle' my way back to the place last stopped recording and restart from that point or would the DVD just go back to the beginning and I'd have to watch the whole thing through until that last stopped position?...I'm hoping it will be like what used to happen with videos!...I hope I've explained this okay? Ta Muchly.

The next recording would automatically start after the previous recording, you wouldn't need to search for that spot. However, if you were to make two recordings for example and later wanted to delete the first one, the second recording would stay on the same spot on the disc, so you'd end up with an empty space, then the second recording which you wouldn't be able to move. Hope this makes sense!

Some DVD recorders can be set to record in "chapters" just like commercial DVDs. You can then skip from chapter to chapter to find where you left off.
The alternative is to fast-forward to the point you want. At 32*speed this wouldn't take long.

Many Thanks Delboy, yes it does, but if I was to remove the DVD and watch another, then replace the first DVD to record after that certain position where I left off, would I be able to find it okay; would there be sections or 'chapters' or whatever they're called?

It will be far better to buy a hard disk based recorder than a DVD based recorder, certainly for temporary stuff you may want to watch then delete.

Obviously if you want to keep stuff you can copy it from the hard disk to a DVD.
