Proof of ownership and like for like replacement
I have now contacted the insurance co. (direct line) following a burglary at my home. I'm now being asked to prove I owned the items I'm claiming for, fair enough, but what kind of proof do I need to provide? I don't have recipts for all of it. I have photos of most of the items, would these be any good? The items stolen were mostly electrical, Ipod, cameras & laptops
Also insurance want to replace items 'like for like' but my mum bought me a new laptop same day as the burglary, and my partner has bought me a new camera, so I'm really not interested in having replacement items of those two, can I refuse them and ask for cash?
Sorry if these seem like strange/silly questions but I've never been through this before.
