Soft contact lenses

Is it possible to wear them inside out? My optician said so, but I thought she was winding me up. I've worn them 3 years, and they flip over all the time - you can't even tell!

I have worn them inside out by accident and pretty soon you notice that they are uncomfortable after a while. If you hold a lens between the ends of your forefinger and thumb with the outside pointing toward the finger ends, looking at it edge on, squeeze it lightly, you will see one of two things. If the lens rolls inwards on itself, it will be rolling towards the inside. If, instead, its edges roll onto the contours of your fingers, it will be rolling away from the inside. This will show that it is countoured to be worn only one way and the edges may sctratch your eye if worn inside out. Hope you understand this.
An inside-out soft contact lens appears to have a "flared" lip around its edge. This is what causes the discomfort.

I use daily disposables which are so thin that it's sometimes really difficult to see when they're inside out. I've been using them for a few years, but still managed to put one in inside out yesterday. It was quite uncomfortable after about an hour and very irritating after 4. Monthlies are much easier to see when they're the right way around.
Ive just switched to soft lenses from gas permeable, and have managed to put mine in inside out. It was a bit uncomfortable but I could still see ok. My lenses have 123 written on them so if theyve flipped inside out it reads like its been mirrored. Maybe you could ask your optician about getting this on yours? The worst thing I ever did with my hard lenses was put them both in the same eye !!!
I once forgot to take my lenses out after a night out, went to bed, got up in the morning and put another pair in... that was very weird because I couldnt see properly after id put the lenses in - it took me a few minutes to work out what Id done - well I was a bit hung over!!
Also very painful was when one split in my eye and I had to fish out the two bits - that was horrid.
Still I'll keep wearing them - vanity eh!
