answering another question made me wonder this. we have six nephews between us. This year one will have reached 18, so i was thinking of stopping sending him something now (see him less than once a year) one of the others is 17 but has left education, so (in theory) is in the world of work so perhaps we should stop him too? he isn't actually in the world of work because he can't be bothered, which makes me want to stop even more!

after 18 should they start buying you a gift as well?
Some of my nieces and nephews are in their 20"s,they are still "great kids to me though, and they all get sent £20 for Christmas.
I have no kids, one brother and he has 3 boys and 3 girls in 2 lots - aged 43, 41, 39, 33, 14 and 12. I retired 3 years ago and at that point stopped birthday presents to the older set. Still sending birthday presents to younger 2 but with a max cash limit of £30. We are talking about a present amnesty this Xmas - my brother hasn't given me anything for years in spite of the fact I've been sending him a decent bottle for his birthday - I think I'm an idiot!
We stopped buying for brothers/sisters, their children, and their children, when we started buying the same naff gifts two years running
I stop at 18 - unless of course they are very close and send us one! I feel once they are adults, this is only fair.
My mum has stopped buying presents for my cousins as we are all over 18. Same with my aunties and uncles buying for me.
