I've just realised I've left a belt on a pair of jeans I've put in the washing machine. I can hear it banging about. Is it likely it could balls up my washing machine when it starts a spin?

I quite often leave the belts on thing 1 and thing 2's clothes, makes a hell of a racket but doesn't seem to have caused any problems (fingers crossed).

That's alright then. I'm having visions of it smashing the glass and water pouring everywhere (I'm sure I'm not really giving the strengh of the glass the credit it deserves) or it tearing through the rubber seal.

It is making a bloody racket!
Just in case - maybe you should drain the water off and open the machine and take the belt out, and then restart it. Could be expensive in the long run

I would if I had the foggiest idea how.
It'll be alright.
Can you turn the knob round to spin? It will be noisy though
i have washed spanners in machines and its been fine

There are no nobs, it's all buttons.

If anything happens I'll just sue Al and Firewatch for saying it'll be ok. ;)

Not sure how you don't notice a spanner though! lol
With my old washer it was possible to advance the programme by pushing the buttons as they lit up at the part of the cycle the machine was at - however by the time we've sat here trying to stop it the machine has probably all but finished it's cycle...........
I've done it loads of times...

My machine stops if you hold the start button...
easy, one toddler with a fascination for tools and machinery. one busy mummy shoving washing in and not checking
It'll be fine, I quite often find money rattling in around in mine from OH's jeans pockets (not much money, mind you)
Mrs MM has washed my wage packet in the past when in my pocket. Quick iron and as good as new
I washed OH's passport once...
You can turn it of in mid cycle from the plug and wait a while, then open the door and all the water will pour out.
It is just a question of what will do the least damage.
I have a pair of jeans that are always washed with the belt still attached, it is a webbing belt with metal eyelets along the whole length and a big metal buckle, my machine has never come to any harm.
