my friend has gradually been introducing alternative things into her shopping from Aldi and Lidl and is making quite a saving. She started using their soap powder just over a month ago and is really happy with it. I am tempted but have used a particular brand for years and years and once did try to swap and got a bit of a rash due to sensitive skin - maybe I should try some of hers before I buy!
For a few quid a box it must be worth trying it to see.

Most seem to think it is good, but at least one claims it is not low suds enough for their machine.

No, I've not tried it myself.
Sometimes buy the liquid version, works just as well as expensive one
Guess the best kind of test would be to buy a box and give it a whirl. If you don't then like it, buy your regular and do half/half till it's used up.
The only cheapo detergent that Which? recommends is Lidl's Formil Biological - nearly as good as the best (Ariel and Persil) but at nearly a third of the cost per wash.
I don't use loose soap powder but I use the Aldi non-bio tablets - I've used them for a couple of years now, and I find them excellent.
