How to change a photo
15 Answers
Mrs Dinosaur here again.... I've managed to copy a picture from a page on the computer, but I only know how to save it to a word file. I want to put it on tinypic.com. How do I change it to a different thing from a word file please. I know it's simple for some of you but to me it's a completely new thing. Thank you.

I take a photo and I put it in MyPictures. If ever I want to show someone one of my photos (for instance on AB) I transfer it to Tinypic.com and give the link. In this case I copied a pic from my son's Facebook page and saved it as a word document because I don't know any other way (I think that's the problem) Tinypic.com can't upload the file because it's a word file and not a JPEG or similar. I just want to know how I make my pic into a JPEG pic. I bet that's as clear as mud - sorry.
Word, at least to me, is synonymous with Microsoft Word these days. But you seem to be saying you have already saved it as a word document. So you don't mean MS Word then ?
I suspect someone will automatically know what type of document you mean but I'm afraid I'm being a bit thick again.
Probably best to wait until that person comes along, although in the meanwhile I can say it may be worth searching the Net for an freeware application that can convert from one format to another ?
Alternatively, if you can copy and get the picture into your PC's paste buffer somehow then maybe you can save it in a different format, one that tinypic likes ?

Horseshoes: most people I teach have never had much help with computers and it seems to me that copying and pasting pictures into a word document is a method that comes easily if you've done a bit of word processing.
However you need to get used to saving pictures as images. Then you can use things like tinypic and facebook.
So: when you find a picture, right-click on it - you'll see an option 'save target as' or 'save image as'. When you choose this, a dialogue box will open showing you all the locations on your computer where you can save the picture.
You can choose any location you want but 'my pictures' is as good as any. Click OK and that's it.
