MM Links Results December 2011 Week 2
15 Answers
I apologise for yet another false start to the game. It appears that the document with the agreed posting went astray and an improvised posting went up instead.
The game has now closed (19:00), the results have been counted and I can now reveal that King John's chosen links were:
GRAND CANYON
NATIONAL ANTHEM
HORSE CHESTNUT
RELAY RACE
All very reasonable pairings, but with many alternatives possible, did you pick up the points?

As it turned out, even knowing what the links were going to be on, and with 5 minutes extra to play, only one link was found by the early birds.
I was prepared to extend the life of bonus points (usually 2 minutes) until 9:05 (yes, I try to be fair grannydi) but nobody earned them.
The first discovery went to Evsajo for RELAY RACE (2 points) and that was only matched again by x-ray at 6:45pm for a single.
At 9:04, the second link of HORSE CHESTNUT fell to OwlLady for her 2 points and four others late picked up singles.
It was late morning before Paulineward came along and plunged the depths of the GRAND CANYON, a link that only found favour much later with one other player (wickedtongue)
Just like buses, you wait all day and then two come along together. Late Saturday evening, X-ray suggested the NATIONAL ANTHEM (2 points) immediately followed by Lysander (1 point)
BUT . . . x-ray was also one of those matching 'horse chestnut', thus making him the only double-hitter this weekend.

As I mentioned in the 'Shrubbery' posts on Fridays, I am considering running this game through Christmas weekend to give jobjockey more practice ;-)
So far, only one player has indicated that he will be unable to play. Unless several more express the same, it will be business as usual that weekend.
Thank you jobjockey for a great game despite the problems.
If at first we don't succeed, we'll try, try, try again.
Until next weekend then, Happy Linking,
This is gen2 signing off.

Firstly thanks to both you and jobjockey (despite being on nil points!)
Secondly, having had problems myself when attempting to post on time, I understand the slight panic when it all goes **** up!
My badly phrased (yes, Aq, I agree) jest about the time of posting was meant to suggest that jobjockey was somewhere in East Anglia and his clock was still running on the pre-trains timetable (i.e. local time)!
But thanks again and, yes, I will be joining in, D.V., through to the end of the year.

Hi gen2
Oh, thanks for that explanation.....well, I will enjoy being the hotshot for a little while longer, I didn't realise I was the first to get National Anthem.
Thanks, I should have known you would hardly make a mistake like that, having read through the posts again I now see that you were right.
Hoping Hobby Horse will come up tomorrow in the KM.
