I think it's completely wrong, if the dog has shown no signs of aggression before. It is people that make dogs aggressive. How ridiculous!
Imagine if you lost your dog for just a couple of days, only to discovered it had been put down?
This is very sad news indeed

It appears, from the link, that only Pit bulls, American Staffordshire Terriers, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, and Presa Canerios are included in the list...
There have been some serious injuries and even deaths of humans due to attacks, primarily by Rottweilers. Obviously caused by lack of trainingon the part of the dog but also the owner. However, the County appears to be protecting itself from possible lawsuits surrounding the dogs actions after adoption...

Clanad, you are right, Great Danes and German Shepherds, Domermans are not mentioned after the title. I did find that a bit strange, whilst these dogs have been known to have attacked, they are generally stable and not considered a dangerous breed.
I certainly agree with phasing out the likes of Pit Bulls but not by mass killing but by a ban on breeding.

Could it be because of their size, they are not re-homed easily, due to the cost of feeding? The US are experiencing hard financial times.
It all seems very harsh on any dog to be put down because of the breed or size.
If an individual dog shows too much aggression or is to ill and cant be cured, then that is fair enough. But the slaughter of innocent animals because they are a inconvenience. Just makes my blood boil.
