The Perils Of Privatisation - Part X
News2 mins ago
Ok so there's been, 10 Radiohead albums? Not really sure - I'm new to them. Purchased OK Computer a week or two ago and nothing's been in my CD player since. Love it. So, looking to buy another Radiohead album, I was wondering if you Radiohead fans could tell me which one to go for next. I want something like Ok Computer. Which do you think is the best?
Thanks!!x

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I own all their albums including bootlegs, and despite being a fan since day one, i still find it hard to decide which is best between the bends, ok computer and amnesiac..the bends is more guitar driven, and is full of infectious harmonies.. ok computer is more complex musically.. but is also full of great songs.. as is amnesiac.. if you pinned me down at this moment i would also say the bends..
Their proper, full studio albums are, in chronological order:
Pablo Honey - raw and, musically, pretty straightforward indie guitar rock, it still shows frequent glimpses of brilliance
The Bends - their breakthrough album, still mostly guitar based indie but glimpses of the future eg in Planet Telex. Lyrically dark. Definitely the one most like OK Computer
OK Computer, well you know about this one. It's my favourite, and probably the greatest ever album.
Kid A - after the massive success, critically and commercially, of OKC, Kid A was a disappointment to many fans. Very experimental, verging on the impenetrable in places. There are a few duff tracks but most certainly a few gems too.
Amnesiac - continued the Kid A experimentation but generally a bit more accessible. Superb.
Hail to the Thief - More accessible still - back more towards OKC, but still a progression both musically and lyrically. WOuld've benefitted from the culling of a couple of weak tracks (Backdrifts, The Gloaming) and there's nothing quite so magical as the OKC/bends highlights, but still streets ahead of most music you'll hear this decade,
