Billions of debt

Hope this hasn't been posted before, ( and maybe I should have put it in Finance) but I found it interesting and scary in view of the Billions of debt we are in :-

We often hear politicians talking about billions, yet a billion is a difficult number to comprehend. Look at it this way:

A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
A billion days ago no-one walked on earth on two feet.

Scary huh? and that is just one billion! rosy

seeing as how time moves on, it would be more than a billion minutes since jesus was born, and who knows the actual date, no one, or am i missing the point....

Surely it means that it you travelled back a billion minutes you would arrive at the same period in which Jesus is supposed to have lived.......not necessarily at the moment of his birth?

Consider the amount of disk space that all your computer programs and data occupy, that is more than a few gigabytes and 1 gigabyte is a billion bytes. So you are dealing with numbers in the billions as part of your everyday life even if you don't realise it.

and is that calculated on the old British billion of a million million or the now universally adopted US billion of 1000,million?

We are in billions of debt .Im not in debt I owe no one anything .I pay my tax on everything I earn and buy .So how am I part of this debt?
