Does this really save wear and tear on your game disc? It doesnt seem to speed up loading times.

I've only ever done it once on a game I play a hell of a lot.

It's not the disk it will reduce wear and tear on, it's the drive.

ok, so a good plan if you're caning one particular game.
Its also a lot quieter than having the drive running constantly
Load times are usually quicker but only by a few seconds. Other benefits are the noise reduction but also wear and tear on the dvd drive itself. My only 360 fail was due to a drive malfunction so I always install games that are currently being played.
