have fallen down to the dreaded cold/flu, not sure which it is yet,
but need some recommendations firstly to get rid of the wretched cough, or at
least damp it down so i might sleep for a few hours at night, and ease it in the day. so far tried paracetamol/lemon, as that is all that is in the house, but not helping much, and as i have had this before, the last time went on for 5 long weeks, don't fancy this again.

I've been inflicted too, nicely coinciding with me going back on my immunosuppressants...urgh! It seems to be going round the office again as a few people started, as I did, with the horrible cough, really sore throat and heavy chest and quite a few more coughing and blowing noses today. Loads of us on one big floor and no windows open as it's cold so no wonder.

I had very little sleep for a few nights with the coughing even trying to prop myself up. I find Covonia helps me best but as productive the best way was to get the stuff out and make sure I clear my nose as much as possible to try and stop more mucus getting back in my chest.

Once the head cold kicked in I've been using Day Nurse when I've needed to get out and for work today, pricey but best I've found. Unless I've needed to I've just tried to let it come out rather than suppressing it. Had a slightly better night's sleep last night but so tired today - really hoping for a good one tonight. Nose has thankfully unblocked - some fresh air and a nice hot bath and some Vicks helped - but my left ear is still blocked.

Was a loong day in work today! Hope you feel better soon!

thank you for all suggestions, apologies for not getting back before, but feel poorly, and didn't move yesterday, except to switch tv on, that usually makes me sleepy, but this flaming cough is a downer. The covonia helps a bit, and does get the stuff out, but lie down and the room is spinning, so prop yourself up and try and sleep, which is difficult. Might go and get some day nurse and night nurse, perhaps getting straight through sleep might see the back of this. But not sure could face actually going out.
TW, must admit your comments rather taken me aback, but perhaps it was a jest, oh hum.
Jenna, so and so isn't it, all i want to do is rest. Anyone who has this, should really stay home if they can, as it seems highly contagious.

TW, no one goes back to work after two days if they have influenza, i know, as it's knocked me out cold for over two weeks before now, and even then took another 4 weeks to feel remotely well. At least it's blue skies, as it's been raining and gale force winds all day yesterday
Hope you are feeling better soon em, I know that virus knocks you completely off your feet and not sleeping does not help.
How are you today EM ? know how you feel ..I was wiped out for three weeks ! time is all that really helps..lots of fluids and paracetamol for fever..not too many mind !..hope you feel better soon..xx

Brenden, Murraym, poorly, cough raging, and now it's the bunged up nose and chest, yuck It's doubtful will move far, had to cancel three important appointments, so they will have to wait now till after Christmas, nuisance more than anything. Perhaps if you all sing a song, or post some music, might make things bit more cheery, if you do, don't make it stuff like jingle bells, or pop stuff like wizard, slade, as that makes me want to throw computer out the window. xx
like this one to cheer you up?
