hi, has anybody got any good ideas to help me with this, growingly annoying, problem? my gf recently bought an mp3 player, she tried putting some songs onto it via window media player but only about a quarter of the songs went on, so she tried again but this time most of the songs went on but they wouldnt play. so i thought about formatting the device so we tried that but still it didnt work. There should still be plently of room on the device as she isnt trying to put loads of songs onto it. so anyway we took it back to the shop and got a completely different 1, but this exact problem has happened again. the songs seem to be there but when you go to play them it just takes you back to track 1 and doesnt play a thing. her computer is runs windows xp which i thought was compatible with the device. has anybody got any ideas? cause this is getting really annoying! any help would be great. thanks

*sorry windows ME

you cant put them on from Windows media palyer in my experience because thats not where they are stored on the computer. You should have a folder in your computer where all your music is stored

go to start then my computer and it will be in c or d drive depending on what you have it should be in my music, or the folder where you put them when you put the music on the computer in the first place

if you cany find it right click on a song and click on 'open containing folder', you can then pick it up from there and move it onto your mp3, which should show up as removeable storage device

hope thats not patronising

let me know if this works

ok il try that, but on her comp she can put in a cd then press copy and it will copy the cd onto it then shes been making a play list and then going to portable device then copy the playlist onto it. we also thried to go into my comptuer, open up the drive, then copy and paste the songs onto it as the manual said this was possible. no it doesnt sound patronising thanks for actually trying to help! im desperate tho its soooo annoying!

i dont think you have to copy and paste just pick the up and drag them over to the mp3 folder

i know what you mean with the copying via media player but you still have to copy from the proper folder

anyway let me know

Question Author
ok, il give it a go dragging it from one screen to the other and il get back to you 2morrow, thanks!

Hi Saxo, you cannot copy files from a music CD directly to an MP3 player as the file format is not the same, if this is what you trying to do it will never work, you must convert the CD files to MP3 type files.

Find some files which you have downloaded or copied from somewhere and which have file names such as ''my_heart_will_go_on.mp3'' and try the copying with those and see if it works.
