I read a link on here a couple of days ago, and dont know where to look for it.
It explained how much the time varied between the longest and shortest days?
The time for the Earth to rotate on its axis (siderial day) is 23hr 56min 4sec.
It's the solar day that varies from season to season.
See here: http://www.universeto...ng-is-a-day-on-earth/
Many thanks graham, will show o/h your post and see if its the one that had him interested x little argument going on here..
Maybe this isnt the post I'm looking for? many thanks
You are talking about the length of day light , not the length of a day.
A day is 24 hours always, it is how much is light and now much is dark that varies.
You can find the length of daylight from this link, you need to know your Latitude . The UK is around 54 deg North so you won't be far out if you use that.

It does vary by several minutes from the south to the north, but the number of mins the day light increases will be the same.
