I just got a 50.00 parking ticket for not displaying my ticket properly, I placed it perfectly on the dashboard but my dog was in there and must have knocked it off. I still have the ticket I bought so is it likely I can get away with it? (the ticket didnt ask for the reg of the car though!!)

I think you'll find that even though you have a valid ticket, it must be displayed so that the time and date are always visable.

I remember a news report about a women who's ticket fell onto the floor of the car as she shut the door on a windy day. She didn't notice and had a fine on her return to the car. She tried to fight it, saying she'd bought the ticket in good faith, but lost.
My advice to you is bit the bullet and pay the fine, but in future make sure you go to carparks where they have sticky tickets, and stick it to your window!!!!
This happened to my sister-in-law. Her ticket wasn't properly displayed, so she got a fine. She went to the town hall to argue the case, and she got let off with a slapped wrist & a ticking off about having your ticket on display. so it is definitely worth trying to get off.
Go to the issuers office and be nice.
Not sure what the last bit in brakets about the car reg means. Any ticket must have the car reg on it.

Exactly the same happened to me!!!!

I went straight to Talbot Street Council and claimed that the ticket was clearly on the dashboard, and that the windscreen wipers may have been obstructing it. (it had blown onto the floor) I blamed pure laziness and sneakiness on behalf of the warden, and my fine was quashed. I had to fill out a form there and then, and attached the ticket I had.

Saved me 30.00!

Gef - I think the reference is to the car park ticket. When you pay the money, you key in the car number which is printed on the ticket. This is done so that you cannot pass on the unexpired ticket to someone else.

Yes definitely write to them with a photocopy of the ticket.
