Well I went round to my friends tonight and she was telling me about all the washing she had to do and that she was paying someone to do it.

We sorted it all out and filled 14 bin bags full.

She then asked me if I wanted to do it for £80. I think it's a good deal. Would you have done it?

if she is a true friend. yes,its nice to be nice :)
I am not exactly Mrs Housewife of the year but how come there is so much dirty washing, I only do a wash six days a week (get a day off on Sunday for good behaviour).
I would do it for a friend.

Not for the money, but to have got to having this amount of dirty washing around, she sounds as though she needs some help.

Don't think I would have done it when I had a wee baby , though.
problem solved, anne will do it!

Lol at the answers. I don't have to iron. But I do tumble dry it. It's made up of clothes, coats, bedding, towels etc....

I thought it was an ok deal tbh. She's at uni full time. Works and has a daughter. I'm in maternity at minute and my basket is always empty.

Looks like she got a bargain then, but she is my best mate. So doing her a favour too.
£6 pound a bag is a great deal for her, no one else would do it that cheap, you have to take into account the cost of not just the washing but the cost of using a dryer.

you are a good friend..
If you're doing it as a friend then good for you. I still think at a rough guess it will cost you half that in soap, conditioner and electricity if you're tumble drying it all.
im guessing she doesnt have a washing machine then?

Good for you lylabella - I hope you get it all done before Christmas.
oh yes.

She's actually very clean, just struggling with washing. No, she does have a washing machine. I don't mind doing it, although it is a lot now I've sorted it out lol.
i wondered if she could do a portion of it, she must have some time off over christmas, its a lot to ask you to do at this time of the year
Yes, that is a very good deal. If you do not want to do it then I will. I see that the other ABers are with me on this one.
I have a lovely friend who does my washing for me, as I live in sheltered housing and can't walk to the communal laundry as it's at the other end of the building. She doesn't charge me either but it is only 1 bag at a time and I repay her in cigarettes (even though I am very anti-smoking) because she can't say no to them and she won't take any money.
What's that, about 28 loads?? She's having a laugh really. if you tumble dry that lot you might as well hand your house keys to the energy company and move into a B&B. If you don't tumble dry it then you are looking at a month to dry it all at one load a day and in the meantime she will be filling up more bin bags!!

I think I would have helped with a couple of bags to get her started and shown her how to get into a routine with it.

What is it they say, buy a man a fish and he'll eat for a day - teach him how to fish and he'll never be hungry...
Not being funny it takes nothing these days to keep on top of washing and drying washing !!
We put it in and it washes itself ! feel sorry for your friend not being able to do this simple task and to pay someone £80 totally ridiculous!.
How much to wash her pots? she needs to wake up to the real world.
how many bags?????

Unless ill or some other mitigating circumstances, that is being a dirty sh_g.....
£6 +/- per bag, non ironed seems very reasonable, so yes, given if it is standard laundry items.

We had a girl a Uni who used to go a whole month without laundry, 35 pairs of panties, 15 bras etc etc etc. Caused quite a bot of mirth with both sexes.
d
I just do 1 load every day and sometimes 2 at weekends when I have more chance of getting it dried because we will likely be around to get it dry. It's not rocket science. I stick it in the wash and hang it up when it's finished and put the dry one in the ironing basket - OH irons it every day and puts it away. takes about 15-20 minutes a day each.
Crikey, that's a hell of a lot of washing. Don't think I'd want to tackle that.
