Olympus C300 - Really only Smart Media ???

I bought this camera 3 year ago and love it.

However, when I went to buy a larger memory card (since 128 MB doesn't suffice) I found out that Smart Media cards don't come in over 128 MB, as opposed to all other cards that go beyond 1 GB!

Also, I read on the internet that slowly Smart Media cards are being phased out of the market. So I could end up with a desolate camera....

My questions:

1. Is there any way to make the C300 take any of the other modern cards.
2. Assuming not (since the slot wouldn't fit, now would it) are there any "smart Media-like" cards that are bigger than 128 MB and that I could use.

..mmm.....sorry to say that IMO you not going to get what you want........you won't run out of Smartmedia cards so no need to worry about that, but I can't see anyone developing cards with bigger capacity. Certainly not like Compact flash...I don't see that you would want bigger capacity ones for your 3.0 megapixel camera anyway.......and they are falling in price so fast that you could get extra ones to carry around with you. It's not such a big deal to change cards is it.....not like diving into a dark corner to fiddle around with 120 film spools <G>

If you are an "enthusiast" then maybe it is time to move on...get yourself a nice (minimum)5megapixel camera with compact flash cards, which the last time I checked were up to 6Gigabyte capacity...woweee :-)

I find that three years in the technology field is like 20 life times....you must have realised that by now.....sorry I can't sound a bit more optimistic but just a few thoughts for you to consider...commoner.

I guess I realized all that - just I had some small hope left there might be some "hidden"solution.

I guess sometime in the near future I will indeed move on....
