Can anyone please suggest in lay terms an equivalent exercise with emphasis on the stomach instead of thirty fast pace minutes on the treadmill please? I am of 'mature' age but still fairly strong and trying to reduce weight. (apart from swimming) -Thanks!

You can't spot target weight loss, you need to do aerobic exercise to reduce all over body fat. You can then tone the abdominal area with targeted exercise such as crunches.

daffy654 -Thanks for the links AND the reality shock I didnt quite realise that I have to burn more calories than I eat to lose weight!!!!!!!!!!!! Heeeeeeeelp!
Try a rowing machine. Use your pulse rate to exercise aerobically.

You could try joining the local YMCA gym. My other half and our 14 year old son both use our local one and it is quite cheap, it costs £27.00 per month for an adult membership and that gives unlimited use of the gym and swimming pool.

We actually have a leg excersiser -treadmill- power plate- cross trainer - rowing machine....plus a couple of weights. I stick with the treadmill & power plate. My only reason for a gym would be a personal trainer that would discipline & motivate me.
