If you are embarrassed at all by using a Daily Mail link, why did you bother, when there are others?

We now live in Christchurch NZ permanently (?????????) on the east side where most of the quakes are happening. It has really been shaking the last 24 hours. Some buildings damaged in the earlier quakes have now fallen down or damaged even more. The sad news is that more of the central city icon, the Square's Cathedral, has had even more damage. Only one or two people got hurt and one person died overnight who drove into the river, not sure if this was during one of the quakes. There is widespread flooding with liquefaction, stinking silt/sand coming out of the ground, in the east of the city and many shopping malls were closed yesterday. All but one are now set to open today (24th) but many folks are too scared to go into Malls and large buildings. Not a very merry Xmas for many. Thank heaven there was no more injuries to people. Most houses in the district will have broken ornaments and damage from fallen stuff. I am lucky to live a little bit higher so no flooding for us this time. We will keep our chin up and overcome this one too.
New Zealand Poised to Be the Next Frontier for Frackingby Lucy Brake – December 1, 2011
Some Kiwis Worry that the Process Could Exacerbate Earthquake ThreatEarlier this year, New Zealand’s Canterbury region was shaken to its core by a devastating earthquake that literally ripped the community apart. Today, as people there continue cleaning up, many feel like they are once again under siege. The new threat: hydraulic fracturing (or fracking) for natural gas and shale oil, a procedure that has been linked to increased seismic activity.
