My partner went to bed Tues night and hasn't got up since with sickness(only once) and diarrhoea (loads and loads). He had a temp of 39.1 yesterday but that is normal now. Anyway I'm doing what I'm supposed to - supplying lots of fluids, diarolyte, toast blah blah BUt I'm truly panicking about getting it myself. I even slept in the spare room! I'm washing my hands after going near him but is there anything else I can do? He thinks it was from a take-out burger, would that make it a less contagious bug? When do you think he'll feel better?

Yukky, sorry to hear this, but glad he is on the road to recovery. Not much more you can do prevention wise that you arent already doing. Washing hands regularly is very important, wiping down door handles and surfaces helps too with anti-bac stuff....
if it's a burger, that's food poisoning which won't be contagious.

I agree with PP, anti-bac, wash everything thoroughly, wash your hands often (as he should too).

Thank you both. I'm getting in such a state about catching it too.
Yes, lots of water (7UP helps with nausea). Dioralye helps replace sodium lost while vomiting so I'd give one of those a day too.
Flat coca cola always helps my stomach feel better; when I used to go canoeing if you capsized in the river and swallowed some of the water flat coke was always what everyone recommended too! Probably just the sugar in it to be fair!
it sounds a bit like the winter bug as well, the danger zone is if you breath in any of the vomit vapour, the incubation is normally 24 hours after your partner got ill, if you have caught it then you will become ill normally a day after your partner

vomit vapour? - oh jeez cazzz. I'm doing what you all said so I'll just have to wait and see (he's still not surfaced either).
don't share towels!
I think the advice is if it goes on more than a couple of days you should get medical help. It is very weakening. I wouldn't let it go on too long.
I would ring NHS Direct if he isn't any better by tomorrow.... they will advise you Prudie.

Thanks, that has concerned me although today all he's done is sleep rather than live in the bathroom.
How's your partner doing now Prudie ? I hope he is on he mend now...and let us know how you are feeling - hope you didnt get it and that it was just a bout of dodgy burger.
nothing to drink or drink except flat cola or flat lemonade until he stops going to the loo. Apparently, it's got all the nutrients in it to stop you getting dehydrated. ( salt, sugar etc) When I had this bug I stayed in bed because my bedroom was nearer the loo, and I drank 3 cans in 24 hours, and it worked.
