I feel there are hates everywhere about Christmas. For me, I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas coz its the time of the year where all the families get together to sing, eat and enjoy every minute that they can.

I understand that most people who don't like Christmas are with small family or no family at all. I have a small family myself which is just me, my daughter and my husband, but combining all the family from my side and my husband's side just makes the event a perfect gathering.

I'm not being judgemental but rather an observation and I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings with what I just said.

Let us all go in peace so we can make the world a better place for us and for our future generation to come.

Scrooge is a caricature of a *type*...possibly elderly, and feeling the strains of life and hard times. But he changes-significantly....so in that respect he is not a character of evil.
I don't particularly like Christmas but I'm not offended by being called a Scrooge, I've been called a lot worse than that :)
Everyone has their reasons for feeling as they do at Christmas, Sagz. I think many people have lost the Christmas spririt, as old festive traditions are dying off. Some people have to work over Christmas, which can dampen the spirit a bit. Others, like myself find it brings back difficult memories. I had to accompany my not quite 21 yr old son to the hospice on Boxing day many years ago, as he was dying of brain cancer. He never returned home. Some older people find that their children and granchildren have grown up and are no longer that interested in spending Christmas with the 'old folk'. For others, their religion prohibits them from celebrating Christmas. Some just have no interest and some don't like the comercialisation that has taken over. We are all different! I look back in fondness to the huge Christmasses we used to have when my father was still with us many years ago. But I also look forward to the far quieter Christmasses I now have with my darling ratter and my mum and our doggies, always remembering what my father used to say when times were tough ... "as long as we have us!" Merry Christmas Sagz! I hope you have a Christmas to remember! :o)

Wow to all the negative and mean replies. I didn't mean to insult any of you in here. Everything mentioned in my thread are all MY Observation, and not implying to anyone in particular. It seems I have cause some commotion in here, so I would like to apologize to all whom are feeling insulted right now.

Christmas is not the only occasion that I get together with my family but it's rather the longest occasion we have from Christmas all the way through New Years. Yes, you're all probably thinking about what I mean by "longest occasion" It's when we all get together by Christmas eve and spend every moment with our family up until New Years day.

My last sentence was to get your mind off from thinking that I'm insulting but I guess it's just another insult.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to ALL and I hope you all enjoy this beautiful and colorful occasion.
