Dog cries whenever anyone leaves

Hi there,
My 1 year 4 month year old Yorkie has just arrived in England from Spain after problems with his passport meant I had to leave him with friends for 5 months. I've noticed over the last couple of days that he's crying whenever anyone leaves the house (or even when someone gets out of the car if he's in there). It doesn't matter if there are still people with him in the house and car that he knows - if anyone leaves he'll stand and cry for a while. I comfort him and after a minute he's absolutely fine. Sometimes he'll also just whine for no apparent reason, just as he's sitting there. Been to the vet and he's been checked over and is absolutely fine.
Is it just a case of him feeling totally unsettled after his move to England? Will he just stop when he's feeling more comfortable and settled? Is there anything I should (or shouldn't!) be doing to help the situation?

Look at the answers given for the GSD on the next thread - might only be a Yorkie but the same principles apply. Leave him for short periods and don't make a big thing of it. Get him used to being in a cage with something to occupy him. Get him signed up for training classes (they do have a very good brain Yorkies).

Bless him, he has clearly suffered separation anxiety. I feel you might need to leave the room for 2 minutes then go back, do this for a while gradually increasing the period of time you are away from him until he realises you aqre coming back. I had a St Bernard who suffered from acute separation anxiety he never really got over it, but it did get better, I must admit however I rarely left him once I realised it made him so wretched.
