If the euro was to collapse, would the Government be in order to show priority treatment towards British expats?

"would the Government be in order to show priority treatment towards British expats?"

what does that mean?
Shouldn't they take their place in the queue with all the other worthy people seeking to come and find sanctuary here?
what, rush emergency supplies of drachmas to them to spend?
I might be missing the point here, but I am an ex Pat and likely never to return to the UK?

if the € collapses.........good......all my pensions are paid in £ and I would be well away the exchange rate.
sandyRoe, surely those who have deserted their native Britain should stand behind those who have shown an active desire to be here?
oh dear, looks like the surgeons excised Sqad's jelly men.
"sandyRoe, surely those who have deserted their native Britain should stand behind those who have shown an active desire to be here?"

Stand behind for what?

I still don't understand the question - in what way would ex-pats need treatment (priority or otherwise)?

The vast majority of European Ex-pats are pensioners who are paid in pounds sterling (and they pay UK taxes). If the Euro collapsed, their pensions would suddenly become worth a lot more (in fact, they've already risen in the aftermath of DC's veto).
Good point, JNO. They leave all that we hold dear to go and live the life of lotus eaters in the Mediterranean sun and at the first sing of a cloud darkening their idyll they want rescuing.
rojash....exactly.
"and at the first sing of a cloud darkening their idyll they want rescuing."

No, they don't.
Talk of civil unrest might unsettle the less phlegmatic amongst the ex-Pats. Cameron may yet feel it necessary to send RN ships to rescue people from the beaches at Nice and Benidorm.
BTY, welcome back, Sqad.

They may get their pensions paid in pound Stirling, but all expats are not pensioners, and what do you think will happen to their property prices if the euro goes bust?
AOG.....good point about house prices..............but one shouldn't rely on house prices to support your retirement. Gone are the days of "bricks and mortar"
Thanks sandy.
I don't get this ex-pat thing. People living in the Eurozone have not abandoned the UK, they are exercising their right to live anywhere within the EU. Most of these people still pay taxes to the UK government.
Ex-pat should apply to persons who have emigrated to the US, Australia and the like.
As to house prices, if you have no intention of returning to the UK to live, then there is no problem. As Sqad says, the return of the pesata/drachma whatever would make Brits living in the EU outside of the UK a lot wealthier.
If you live abroad but have income in the uk you pay your taxes here so they shouldnt be abandond (spelling!!!)
Hope you are feeling better Squad.
Don't understand the cyptic question.

Priority treatment for expats.
Do you mean should we bail them out financially? If that is the question, then no we shouldn't.
Do you mean to repatriate them back to these shores? I'm sure the Government will look after British citizens where ever they are in the world if they are in danger.
