the oblong box pops up every so often. Reminiscent of at least 10 years ago.
We use a dongle so this appearing is quite annoying. We then get the 'connect or work offline' question.
The work offline box is unchecked but will re-check itself. If anyone has any ideas to get rid of this nuisance, other than lobbing the pc out of the window, it would be appreciated. If you require any further info, please ask as I am unsure how much info would be required.

All the very best for 2012.

open IE, select tools > internet options click on the connections tab and make sure there is a tick in the "never dial a connection" tick box.

did that this morning chuck (I typed chick but at least I re-read my post!!)

It plays fair for a while but must be a female pc as it has a mind of it's own. The blessed thing was OK til about 8 am then after an hour trying to get back on here to ask this Q. Many thanks x
(Forgot to ask much earlier than this posting)
It wouldn't be the first time I've been called Chick on here :)

Thinking about it, a dongle normally is a dialup connection, so it may be timing out the connection after a period of time. Does it do it randomly while you're using it, or only after a period of no use?

The other option might be you're borderline on signal strength so it's dropping the connection because of that.

What version of windows is it?

Windows 7 I think. It seems to drop by when the dongle changes from Edge to GPRS or something else. I'll tell the thing to always use best connection to find out if it calms down.

You are a star y'know x
