Hi,
This has probably been asked before but, when you buy a kindle reader, do you get any downloads with it, or do you have to start paying for downloads straight away. I know there are loads of free books, but they tend to be out of copyright. I have a kindle reader for my laptop, but I fancy the convenience of the small one.
If you have a Kindle reader for your laptop, then you presumably already have some books which you can transfer to your Kindle.
As well as Nibble's link, look on Amazon. There are some free books, and also some excellent ones for under a pound (unfortunately, there also a lot of utter dross, so it's worth downloading a preview first).
If I'm thinking of buying a book for my Kindle, I always download the preview to my PC first, unless I'm very familiar with the author's work.
Hi, My grandson got a Kindle for Christmas and it didn't come with any books already downloaded. I thought that was a bit strange cos when I downloaded Kindle to my laptop, there were four books already there. Mind, they were the 'classics' which are free to get anyway. I think some of the Kindle books are quite expensive, admittedly, cheaper than buying the proper book, but soon adds up.However, I think Kindle is great.
Thanks for all your answers. Rojash, I did not realise that I would be able to transfer books from my laptop kindle to the kindle reader. I am not going to get the Kindle Reader for another 5-6 weeks but I will look at the Amazon 99p offers and download them to my laptop kindle, now I know it is possible. Thanks
