Why are the religious so afraid of death?
212 Answers
Without the concept that by worshiping an invisible man in the sky, people can somehow avoid the inevitable, religion would be surplus to requirements.
We're all going to die eventually, we won't know anything about it, so what's the problem?

Be careful you don’t fall off your chair being top heavy!
But I do agree with you to a point. There are so called Christians who are in name only. I had a friend who was a devout catholic and she regularly went to mass, paid her contributions and yet when she was ill for some weeks, the priest never called - except to put more contributions envelopes through the letterbox. When she did finally get back to church the same priest started advocating support for the IRA. That did it. She changed her religion and is much happier.
With regard to your question about the wicked society, that is not for me to say. I am not judge and executioner – that is Jesus Christ.
But note what Jesus said at Matthew 7 from verse 21 – 23.

Truthabounds, You've already decided that God will bring an end to the wicked society here on earth, so you must have some idea what sort of people belong to such a society. Jomifl with his big head, perhaps? Or me with my poor eyesight? You claim you're not judge and executioner, but you're continually judging people - and declaring the method of execution. What duplicitous, sanctimonious rubbish!

// Death represents such upheaval and change for them.......and they are scared witless about what it means as to their perceived afterlife or that they are just reduced to Carbon, Phosphorous, H2O, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Calcium and a few other elements//
No – I am not scared witless about death, the afterlife or whatever. From dust man came – to dust man will return. End of Story. At least that particular story.

I shall not be sitting on the clouds playing a harp or anything else. And I won’t be wandering around heaven either, because I won’t be there.

No Naomi, I am not be sanctimonious etc. I don't even know if I will be among those or not. I try to live my life as good as I can, obeying Bible principles of loveing God with whole heart, soul and strength, to love my neighbour (even if they do ridicule me etc.) and to seek God's Kingdom above man's governments.
I don't wish to die, however, I am not afraid of dying...I'm more afraid of longtime suffering and being a burden on others.
I lost two boys to death...One twelve and the other 20. It definately took me a few years to get used to the idea that I don't have them with me now, but I now have many good memories and can hardly wait to welcome them back in the resurrection.
