Hi all. I've just turned on my dvd player and the screen came up in blue as normal. As soon as I press play it turns into black and white. I turn it off and turn it back on, same problem. Does anyone know why its doing this? Ta.

Is there a button, on the remote control, for switching between the (UK's) PAL colour system and the (US) NTSC one? If so, try pressing it. (Using video equipment with the wrong colour standard results in a black & white picture).

check that your scart lead is in properly, or try another lead

Thanks guys, but I've never had the problem before with the dvd player. Its the new Take That one. Maybe it just doesn't want me to play it. It says on the back that its region 0 (worldwide)
so did you try the scart lead or the settings as suggested? I know that when mine did this in past it was because the scart had moved slightly
Question Author
Yes I've fiddled with the scarts, but no luck :-( and I don't have the option to change regions

Thanks all. Buenchico, you were right. My Dvd player is so old that it has no option to change. Its 8 or 9 years old. Put it in the other player and it works perfect. Thanks all
If only you'd tried that first eh?
Question Author
Yes, but you would have thought that a dvd bought in wh smith and played on an English machine, you wouldn't have to change regions!!! Just a thought.
