Neighbour's Cat
3 Answers
Our neighbour's cat has started coming in to our flat- through cat flap.
We have a 19 year old male and a 5 year old female cat already who don't get on particularly well. Our elderly cat usually avoids confrontation 9 times out of 10. But the odd time fur flies and he goes for the 'invader'. Smudge our younger small cat follows the invader about growling when she notices he's in and will swipe at him. We could change the cat flap to keep him out and use magnets but...he (5 year old) gets put out in the morning every day and it's cold so has nowhere else to go. It's been going on for about 3 weeks and only seen one injury- scratch to old cat (Popeye's) nose. But Popeye is an old cat and rehoming Smudge was maybe enough to make him put up with. It isn't too bad when they all see each other but gets fraught if they unexpectedly encounter each other. If they see each other in advance tbey usually avoid- thougth with growls.
At the moment it is harmonious. One cat asleep in living room, one in bed and 'invader' in cupboard. Not sure what to do. Could try to lock invader out with new cat flap. Could demand neighbour installs their own cat flap. Or maybe they will settle.., I've been monitoring and no real sign yet. Help!
