Meant to add this, having looked at the first couple of slides, they're dusty & dirty. Any recommends as to what can I clean them up with? Tried the branch of a well known chain of camera specialists; J***ps, as I thought here was a liquid you could get. Got told, "dunno mate, a nice piece of cloth?"

Would it be something like mild [baby] shampoo and either very soft, mineral or distilled water? Thanks

advice here. A can of compressed air sounds a good place to start and not expensive.

I have used methylated spirits[ bought at chemist] and cotton buds to clean my slides. Remove excess meths from bud and wipe the slide gently, dry it with a soft cloth or kitchen roll. This works well on Fuji film which I used exclusively, but have not used it on Kodak or other make of film and older film stock may react adversely. Experiment on an unimportant slide first, and if you have a lot to do it's quite time consuming.
DO NOT use water, the slides are made of a type of cellulose gel that will soften and even dissolve in water. A very soft brush camel hair is good, to get rid of the dust. You can buy 'puffer brushes' they have a squeeze bulb to blow off the dust combined with a soft brush. I've just sold one on ebay.
