I noticed today a few very very tiny black beetles/insects in one of my food cupboards. They are no bigger than as pin head. Any idea what these are, if they are dangerous, and the best way to get rid of them?

Thanks!

They could be Liposcelis Bostrychophila also known as psochids or booklice. They live on flour and similar materials so have probably come from some old breakfast cereal.

Google it to see if a picture is avaiable for comparisonand for further stuff on how to get rid - they often disappear on their own.

We had little black things in our food cupboards and also little maggot things. I've no idea what they were or where they came from. They were everywhere - blerg! I just took everything out of the cupboards (and threw a lot of it away) and thoroughly cleaned every surface. I then left them empty for a week to make sure no more bugs emerged. I haven't had a problem since.
I'am no insect expert but they could be some sort of weevil or something similar. I definately think its good advice to clear out your perishables give it a good airing and transfer stuff like flour sugar cerials etc into glass storage jars. You can be pretty sure what you saw was the adults and the chances are the larval stage could be merrily munching through soft packaging.
