Good morning one and all from a cold and frosty eastern shire.

Was treated to a fabulous lunch yesterday in a local French Bistro, and for the first time in my 60+ years I tried snails, not bad either.

Hope you all have a good day, I'll be chopping wood this morning to keep the home fires burning!

LJ, I love Cornwall, apart from Norfolk, it's my favourite county, spent many a long day walking the by ways and hi ways, the stunning scenery and lovely pubs, coastal views, and craggy hills, good times.
Morning , all you Southerners!
glad you have such happy memories em10. it does hae disadvantages living in cornwall but never bother to say what they are as they would just not be understood and i'm all for a peaceful life. but it does have a lot of advantages so i'll go with those.
Good morning all. STill far too dark to see what lovely North Wales has to offer today, but I can't hear any rain so that's a good start. Off to my car boot now, and out to diner tonight with the family 'cos it's my birthday! Yipee. I've had my present from OH - a folding sack truck (which I asked for) before you think he's mad. Have a great day everyone:-)))
^ oops dinner
I feel sympathy for anyone who sees their homesteads overrun with visitors, the capital is never ever quiet these days. There used to be tourist seasons, but not any longer, it's all year round now, and seeing as we have 7 million who live here, that adds in millions more. There are times i wish i could repair to a quiet corner of Cornwall, Norfolk, or somewhere by the sea, but no money to do it with.
Morning all, cold and frosty in the southern reaches of Hampshire. I live right on the edge of the New Forest and yes it does get overrun with tourists. Good for the economy I suppose but the roads are a nightmare in summer
have a good time hrshoes. sounds a busy day.
one of e main problems about village life em10 is tha fact that it is dying. it is very moribund as even the village live near (nt on the coast and not particularly pretty ) is approx 65% second homes and there are 4 supermarkets within 12 mile drive. nice for the owners but not good for those whose live there, ie. local shops close, bus routes are cut, local organisations do not have enough members to continue and there are no younger people to keep them going, local schools are not viable so the few children that there are have to be transported quite a way to the nearest school. just a start. sorry to moan but village life is becoming a visitor centre at major holiday times and that is it.
m,orning bensmum - never been to the new forest. it is on my wish list to visit some time. you can eb annoyed with me than as another grockle.
just had a geek outside and it is still dark.
LJ, i do know, some members of the family live on the coast and have seen their place die a death, city dwellers or others with second homes are a blight on all communities, I would rather move to the place full time, and be part of that community, than visit 2 months out of the year, thus supporting no one. Change has come to Britain in many guises, and often not for the betterment of those communities who have held together over generations. Seen the same here in London, the old folk die off, the young can't afford the barmy prices charged for housing, so they move away, rather sad really
Good morning all.
morning all. feezing up here in the north. Just dashed out even before my brekkie to get our newspapers, as last weekend for some reason the local shop had sold out quite early !! Off to York today to do a bit of shopping. Its usually a bit warmer there.
Have a good day everyone :>)
