Out of their eyes and invaded the site. I still don't see the point of doing quizzes and crosswords and asking for the answers. Ah well.

Its a strange world indeed, but if it floats their boat who are we to knock it.

I just cant do quizzes.
I don't mind if they have really tried to work them out and are stuck but when you get them asking for answers for that days paper at 8 in the morning whats the point?
I usually do my crosswords before logging on to AB, I think I've asked 5 crossword related questions in 4 years, I log on to have a good old rummage around the site and see if I can give someone else a hand.
its a vital part of ab
I understand the need for a quiz and crossword section but it should be separate to the other questions as it knocks all the latest posts off the page before anyone has a chance to read them - I get very frustrated at that! They should have their own Answerbank site.

Well said Ann. Much more sensible than your B&W minstrels show post.
How old are you Zacs?
Totally agree with the OP. To me it's akin to completing three quarters of a jigsaw all by yourself then asking someone to finish it for you!

I'm 50 this year Ann.
This is a Q&A site, folks - this is how I came to find AB, by being completely stuck on a crossword answer, and looking for it on the internet. It's always like this at the weekends.
We have no way of knowing each individuals circumstances or situation , I recall one poster in Q&P who was ridiculed for simple questions, turned out they were recovering from a major stroke, and it was part of therapy to help with memory and concentration.

By asking we discover things we never knew or had forgotten , learn the differing ways that different compilers use. Should the last few clues mean we consign the paper to the recycle box and sigh 'Oh well. I will never know' - of course not!!

Mayve CB should have it's own site??
I have no issue with people asking for help with crosswords and other types of quizzes so long as they've tried to answer them first! Even the strongest quizzers need help from time to time. What I do particularly like to see is people who ask how the answer to a cryptic clue was found i.e. an explanation of the wordplay, as that benefits everybody.
I used to do money-prize only but after umpteen (hindi word) & huge postage costs with no reward I gave up.
Sorry i don't have a dog, so I guess I'm stuck with Answerbank and Elton John's Rock of the Westies on the hi-fi. What more could you want?
