matt finish ceramic tiles

Anyone know if matt finished - i.e not shiny! ceramic tiles need any kind of coating to be used in a shower?

If you want to be really sure, ask whether they have an R36 rating which is the contract standard for anti slip tiles. Please note I have used the word ANTI slip. There is no such thing as non slip. Shower gells and shampoo make any tiled surface slippy.

Thanks both. They were for the walls Zacs, not the floor, tiling is finished in the bathroom and toilet and about to start in shower room. No-one said anything when we were buying them and they are bathroom tiles, tiler has said nothing other than that they are nice tiles, but when the electrician was in, he said "ooh nice tiles. Are they waterproof since they don't have a shiny glaze?" That just got me thinking......what if they aren't and they fall off once they start getting wet!!!!

Rubbish. We've just done both bathrooms in matt tiles and I'm an interior designer whose specified matt tiles for years. They've still got a glaze on them.

thanks Zacs - I really love them - they are white but really warm looking as they dont reflect too much light and are actually more an ivory colour - we've done them with a mosaic border and I'm really pleased with them.
