No claim submitted but penalised
Can anyone offer any advice? My Father was turning right into a junction last week displaying right turn indicator. A vehicle has attempted to overtake as he was making the right turn and has collided with my Dads car. The damage to my Fathers damage was scuffed front offside wheel arch. The offending vehicle has damaged nearside wing mirror and paint damage along the nearside. The second vehicle has obviously not seen my Father turning and is at fault. The offending driver has put a claim into his insurance. My Father has informed his insurance of the incident but has not had a claim. He received a bill today for an extra £400 with the insurance company stating that this was an open claim. Why has he been penalised when he has not had a claim. Surely this cannot be right, what should he do?
